Prototype privacy approach
SeenSafe is being designed to minimize collection of personal information. The current prototype does not perform automated facial comparison and does not upload or store a sighting photo when you use the prototype camera workflow.
Public records
SeenSafe may display or link to public records published by organizations such as the FBI and other authorized missing-person or law-enforcement sources. Those organizations control their own records and privacy practices.
Sighting information
As reporting features are added, SeenSafe will identify what information is collected, why it is needed, how long it is retained, and where it is sent before submission. Sensitive information should not be retained longer than necessary for the public-safety purpose.
Photos and biometric features
SeenSafe will not activate facial-comparison or other biometric matching against a data source unless the required authorization and safeguards for that source are in place. Any future production photo-processing workflow will be documented here before launch.
